Maldrin Skywatcher Elavain

The leader of the Order of Copper Dragons is a Goliath whose great strength is matched by his great heart.

Description:

Racial Traits

- Monstrous Humanoid: He is proficient with all simple weapons, but he has no proficiency with any armor or shield.

- Powerful Build: When he is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for an opposed check, he is treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to him. He is also considered to be one size larger when determining whether a creature’s special attacks based on size can affect him. He can use weapons designed for a creature one size larger without penalty, but his space and reach remain those of a creature of his actual size. The benefits of this trait stack with the effects of powers, abilities, and spells that change his size category.

- Mountain Movement: He is particularly adept at negotiating mountain hazards. He can make standing long jumps and high jumps as if they were running long jumps and high jumps. Can engage in accelerated climbing without -5 penalty on the Climb check.

- Acclimated: Does not take penalties for altitude, and does not lose acclimation to high altitude even if he has spent a long time at a lower elevation.

Biography Snip

Unfortunately, Maldrin was born a somewhat sickly child in comparison to other Goliath babies, a detriment that haunted him for most of his life in his tribe. Because he couldn’t keep up with the rest of the tribe both literally and in terms of production, his tribe began to shun him, essentially pretending he didn’t exist. For all intents and purposes, he was forced to survive on his own, though he desperately tried to prove himself to the tribe, refusing food and shelter until he could prove his worth.

He couldn’t do it.

Unable to prove any worth to the tribe, he walked away in shame at age 8, struggling to live at all costs for several weeks. It was in that moment that he met the dragon. A beautiful copper-scaled reptilian with eyes the color of burning coal named Falatia. The combined natural grace and raw strength the dragon held was what drew Maldrin into becoming a Dragon Shaman. He saw the dragon as a symbol of strength, longevity, and intelligence. To overcome his weaknesses, he tried to join the dragon as a follower, learning the ways of the dragon for several years. After being granted the power of draconic aura from the copper dragon, Maldrin’s body became far stronger than the average Goliath, and healed his sickliness.
During his time in training, he witnessed the birth of a Kobold named Khaugh, and the two became quick friends. Near the climax of his training, he heard the voice of Bahamut, and underwent his journey to become a Dragonborne. To do so, he and Khaugh started a guild, the Order of the Copper Dragon. In addition, Bahamut said his trial must consist of him saving future generations thrice over and create blood from the void. By saving children from the demon wagon and a witch within the past few months, Maldrin is close to unlocking the power of the Dragonborne. Although he may not be able to rejoin his old tribe, he hopes he can find a new one in the Order.

However, he still keeps most of his past a secret…
